High Level Glazing Replacement Location:Innside Hotel - Liverpool
Task:
High Level Glazing Unit Replacements via Rope Access
Project Overview:
We were tasked with replacing 2 x damaged glazing units on the newly refurbished Innside Hotel in Liverpool. Our client MAC Group had previously used our services to carry out Fireproofing works within the Risers / Lift Shafts and were impressed by our attitude towards safety and the professionalism of our team.
With a short window of opportunity before the opening day we were asked to provide a solution for the installation of two 2500mm x 1500mm 110kg glazing units at Level 11 and L9.
With internal renovations complete we were unable to use glass lifting devices from inside the building. In order to carry out the glazing removal it would all have to be done externally. We installed a Mini Floor Crane on the Roof with a 500kg SWL and hung a 300kg Minifor Winch with 100m Wire from this to allow us to attach a P11 Vacuum Lifter to the external side of the glass. Two IRATA Rope Access Technicians descended to the workface to attach the vacuum lifter. All external trims and pressure caps were removed and the glazing units were lowered down onto the L3 Roof with guidance from operatives using tag lines to keep the glass clear of the building.
The reverse process was carried out and both units were replaced within the day safely complete with twelve hours to spare before the Opening Day!
