Rock Face Stabilisation Location: Handbridge - Chester Task: Rope Access Rock Face Stabilisation
Project Overview:
Our client approached us after receiving reports from the resident of large rocks falling into their back garden. Due to the works being at height with restricted access we carried out vegetation clearance and de-scaled all loose rock from the face via Rope Access. This allowed a Geotechnical Engineer to survey the area.
It was proposed that a Rock Netting / Soil Erosion Matting system be installed to secure the rock face and make the area safe.
Given the close proximity of the rock face to the residential property a load bearing scaffold was erected to protect the house during removal of a large brick dentition section built into the rock face. To prevent a large section of rock potentially dislodging during de-scale we installed a temporary Rock Netting system over it before using mechanical breakers to remove. This allowed us to catch all debris in small pieces and then release in a controlled manner. This ensured a safe working environment for our team and zero property damage.
Our highly experienced Geotechnical Rope Access team installed:
12 x Earth Driven Anchors at the crest
20 x Rock Anchors at the bottom using a suspended drilling rig
18 x Geotextile profiling anchors throughout to ensure soil erosion matting is effectively held to the face
MacMatR Green Rock Netting System
All works were completed on time and within budget
Using Rope Access we were able to complete all works safely and efficiently ensuring our client received the most cost effective solution and the resident had minimal disruption.
