Blackpool Pier Steelwork Installation Location: Blackpool Pier - North Task: Installation of Structural Steel Bracings Underdeck
Project Overview:
Our client was facing issues with the structural integrity of the pier due to corroded and damaged steel bracings. Given the exposed nature of the location and the challenging conditions faced it was not feasible to utilize scaffolding as it would be damaged in high tidal conditions or MEWPS as the ground was soft with sections of standing water and a very short period of access granted during tide changes.
Our Rope Access Rigging and Fabrication team were able to safely work above the water level maximising the time spent on site to fabricate and install structural bracings. Lifting in sections up to 250kg and 8.5m in length our team was able to install 18 bracings. With a small section of the pier barriered off to prevent public access to our Rope Access Anchors and lifting systems there was zero downtime or disruption to daily activity on the pier.
We were able to provide our client with experienced IRATA Rope Access Technicians with the added trade skills of:
Appointed Person - Lift Planning
NVQ L3 Rigging and Lifting
Welding / Fabrication
